ILCA Mourns Loss of ILCA President Emeritus Lisa Martin
(NEW YORK, NY) – The International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) mourns the devastating loss of Lisa Martin, ILCA President Emeritus and the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Strategic Communications Director and issued the following statement on behalf of the current officers and executive board of the ILCA:
Lisa’s spirit and vision brought a new energy to the ILCA when she assumed the presidency in 2018. She believed in our shared mission and committed her time and energy to help grow the association. It was through her inspiring leadership that Lisa helped bring a diverse and talented group of communicators into our fold, guiding the ILCA in the right direction.
Her thirst for training and connection with other labor communicators was a cornerstone of her legacy. From the dynamic workshops at our biennial conventions to the ongoing webinars that helped build the skills and capacity of our affiliates, Lisa led the way in making labor communicators grow. Her passion for elevating labor communications and amplifying the voices of working people leaves a mark on our labor movement. This legacy will benefit working families for generations to come.
Lisa's dedication, kindness, and leadership will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to her family during this incredibly difficult time,” said Chelsea Connor (President), DeLane Adams (Treasurer) & Marci Toback (Secretary), current officers of the International Labor Communications Association.
